About us

Gwyneth Morgan BSc MCOptom

Gwyneth Jane Morgan registered as a fully qualified optometrist in 1981. She is currently the elected representative for Wales to the council of the College of Optometrists which she was president of from 1998-2000. She currently serves on the following College committees: Finance and Policy, Lay Advisory Panel and Continuing Education and Training.

Gwyneth actively works towards the promotion of optometry within primary care in the UK and Wales in particular. She is a member of Optometry Wales, a body which liaises with the Welsh Assembly Government and an observer of her local optometric committee.

She has successfully completed the training for the Welsh Eye Care Examination and the Primary Eyecare Acute Referral scheme so is now qualified to provide these services.

She is involved in developments which will lead to optometrists gaining independent prescribing rights so that the public can more easily access treatment for eye conditions.

In addition, she has contributed to the work of the National Service Framework for Diabetes, the National Glaucoma Screening Committee in Wales and has led discussions with the Department for Health on the re-use of trial contact lenses and ophthalmic devices.

The rest of the team

We have two receptionists who have been with the practice for many years and who can advise on suitable and flattering frames as well as performing minor repairs where necessary. They are always happy to help with general enquiries and make appointments. We also have an administrative assistant to carry out a variety of practice-management tasks and help with reception.

Gwyneth is supported by Jane Savage, another qualified optometrist, who attends the practice when required and has a particular interest, skill and experience in low vision work.
